The area is maintained through business operations. The late Magnus Linder bought back his childhood home and started the business at Mustion Linna in 1985-1986, with the goal of preserving the historically valuable area for future generations. Mustion Linna is privately owned by the Linder family. The main building was turned into a foundation after Magnus Linder's death. The owners do not take profit. The proceeds are used to maintain, restore, and develop the area and buildings, honoring Magnus Linder’s wishes.

The over 200-year-old main building of Mustion Linna, located in the old ironworks area, is one of Finland's most valuable manors and a nationally significant cultural heritage site. The manor is under the supervision of the Finnish Heritage Agency. Guided tours of the museum offer insights into the long and fascinating history of the area, as well as the glittering and even tragic phases of the family’s past.

The manor and its stunning buildings are surrounded by a large, enchanting English-style park, which is open to the public free of charge. The privately owned park was originally built in baroque style but was redesigned in the late 19th century into an English-style park. Many exotic, unusual trees were planted from different parts of the world. Today, the park provides peace for the soul, with winding paths, summer houses, romantic bridges, statues, and unique floating lily paths. The park and manor are located near the old and picturesque Mustio ironworks village, whose history dates back to the early days of the iron industry in the late 1500s.

The area hosts a popular summer theatre offering a diverse range of programming. Mustion Linna’s summer theatre provides quality entertainment, from theatre performances to concerts and stand-up shows, in a covered outdoor theatre during the peak season. Events at Mustion Linna and the restaurant Linnankrouvi are held year-round. The large park provides an excellent setting for various activities and events.

In addition to museum experiences, Mustion Linna offers hotel, restaurant, and conference services in its historic and charming buildings. The former horse stable and old granary serve as meeting venues. The former winter garden offers a sauna experience with a magnificent view. The manor’s wing, Edelfelt, and former workers’ housing at the ironworks serve as hotel accommodations. A two-story suite, Merlin’s Tower, located in a converted transformer station, is named after the magician, in honor of the magic the area once needed, according to the late owner.

Renovations and expansions of the Linnankrouvi restaurant in 2016-2017 led to the creation of a stunning Pavilion, based on customer demand and feedback. This allowed the restaurant’s seating capacity to grow from 65 to 200, enabling large events, celebrations, and conferences to be held in the Pavilion. Mustion Linna is a highly popular venue for weddings, and with the completion of the Pavilion, even larger parties can now celebrate in our unique and beautiful surroundings. Weddings are held weekly during the summer, with several occurring in the off-season as well. Recent developments have included updates to the facilities based on guest feedback, as well as the development of the website, e-commerce, and booking systems. The Koskimökki and Stenvilla buildings were completed in early 2023 for hotel use, offering alternative accommodation options alongside the other hotel buildings. A path of responsible action was initiated with the Sustainable Travel Finland program in 2020, and the certification was achieved in 2024. Mustion Linna has also previously received the Laatuttoni and Green Start awards, and we have earned the Welcome Cyclist recognition, as well as a spot on the South Coast Bikepacking Trail. In the 2020 Kasvu Open’s Kasvupolku® coaching program, Mustion Linna was ranked among the top three most promising growth companies in Uusimaa. The jury praised the company for its sensible growth while preserving its traditions. Mustion Linna continues to develop high-quality business practices in support of its growth, and the domestic tourism trend is expected to benefit the company in the future.

Our flexible staff over the years has enabled Mustion Linna’s development. We strive to be adaptable, listen to team members’ wishes, and involve them in the entire work community. Every employee, in every role, plays an important and meaningful part in both the team and operations. Our team includes newcomers, veterans, “runaways and those who’ve returned,” and even members who have been part of the operation for over 30 years. We support and develop one another, and we want our staff to feel good! We value collaboration and a development-driven mindset, as well as the desire to grow, learn, and improve both individually and together. Many of us take on tasks beyond our departmental roles, leveraging our strengths, motivations, and expertise to grow professionally and contribute to the development of the business. The diversity within our team is our greatest strength! We offer our staff opportunities for recreation days, as well as various courses and training. Many have completed multiple individual courses, including apprenticeships. Our staff has also participated in competitions, such as the Finnish Culinary Team’s competition trips and the “Waiter of the Year” competition. We encourage our staff to regularly enjoy lunch and dinner at the restaurant, visit the Manor Tour with their family or a guest, and stay in the hotel, so they can recommend services to our guests based on their personal experiences. As a staff benefit, we offer free meals with a guest at the restaurant, free accommodation and a Manor Tour with family or a guest. We also provide discounts for staff on gift cards and products. Our partner, the Mustion Linna Summer Theatre (Teatteri Provinssi), offers staff the opportunity to attend summer theatre performances. Staff meals are affordable, and coffee is available freely when the craving hits.

Mustion Linna is open daily during the summer season. Outside of the peak season, we operate with reduced hours but still welcome groups by reservation. Our largest segment is corporate clients. We host meetings, recreational days, and corporate events from autumn to spring. The majority of our private visitors come to Mustion Linna from Midsummer to mid-August. Thousands of summer theatre guests come to enjoy the quality productions at the covered summer theatre, and often dine at the restaurant before or after the show. The summer terrace, museum, and its small coffee stand attract visitors during the season. The enchanting English-style park is perfect for a picnic! The area is charming in every season. Thanks to its year-round romantic atmosphere, Mustion Linna has become a favorite among couples and wedding parties, even outside of peak season. Events held at the restaurant and museum also draw guests year-round. The flow of visitors is particularly season-dependent. With growing visibility and recognition, we hope to expand our opening hours and offer more job opportunities, welcoming more Finnish and international guests to the enchanting Mustion Linna every day, around the clock, year-round.
